Kayriss has spent much of her life underwater and so it is much easier for her to take her underwater form than her land form. On the other hand, once she has been on land for a time her land shape improves with time.

She has practiced her siren's voice only so much so that it can be employed to entice prospective patrons to consider employing her services to solve their problems. She usually only uses it to open or activate hidden caches in her lair.

Personality:

Callous, cold-hearted, wily and deceitful she is quite shrewd when it comes to bartering and often comes away with more as payment than the customer believed he was offering. She employs her sweet voice to good effect especially with non-Yli customers and has no qualms with parting them from their prized valuables.


She is also a meddler. When she passes judgment she will sometimes go out of her way to put things to right, whether or not it is called for.


Vengeful and sometimes petty, she does not take well to insults and while not easily offended, has no qualms with the liberal application of a curse when another does not afford her the proper respect.

She has the signature stature and lithe body of her race, but is still discernably feminine to non-Yli patrons. Her body is marked with some inks and dyes as well as a wide range of glass, corals and pebbles which she winds through her long deep blue hair. Her eyes are very pale blue, like coldest ice, often seeming to take on a different cast depending on the light.


Appearance Underwater
Her aquatic tail has distinctively angled fins giving it a sharp, spined look, which to some Yli is very attractive. The scales of her tail are very deep blue at the tip fading to a lighter shade as they progress up her body.

History:

Kayriss might have had a normal childhood if her grandmother had not chosen her to carry on the family tradition. Her mother had refused to carry on their heritage and as such had made an agreement with her mother to give up one of her daughters. Kayriss was taught from an early age how to recognize the useful plants and creatures to be found on the sea's floors and how to combine them for new applications.

She learned how to milk her clients for payment, playing on their emotions and misery to drive up the price. She also learned how to steel her heart.

She was still a teenager when she met her first love. He was a beautiful Yli man with soft green eyes and a gentle disposition. He saw her grandmother for the monster that she was and tried to take Kayriss away from it, but Kayriss's grandmother would not have it.

Seeing a threat to her legacy she killed the young man and saved his heart in a jar which she gave to her daughter to keep for always. Since then Kayriss has been reluctant to accept another man in her life even after watching her grandmother wither away to old age.

What was her grandmother's became hers with the old woman's passing. A large cave on the fringes of Onise filled with glittering treasures, payment from miserable patrons seeking love, health, or vengeance. And deep therein, resting in the darkest gloom there rests a still heart trapped in a lonely jar.
